Ok not quite, but this title come up in the Meet the Designers session last night.   I was a bit awe struck to meet Loz and as usual Angie was the kind of interviewer that makes you relax, smile and have fun (hence this song is kind of actually dedicated to her for inspiration today).

I have been adding daily some new pieces to the RFL Home Expo exhibit all in meshy goodness.   This one is a cute little storage unit currently being displayed in the California prefab.   The boxes are all separate (you can unlink each one) so you can reuse and create stacks of them.  10 Land Imapcts for the full unit and boxes/books displayed.   (The plant isn’t included but head over to Itutu for their amazing stuffs if you like the plant).

I have also added some animated organic flowing sun loungers for super minimalist style for the California set with solo poses (and yes girly ones Angie if you are reading <3) also currently at the Expo.

Tonight at 6pm SLT Prim Perfect the well known magazine within Second Life will be hosting a meet the designers session.  I will be one of them (eek!) along with Loz Hyde from MeshWorks. Angie Mornington will be in charge of proceedings and it will be a voice based session (so come along if you really want to hear my lovely British accent ahah!).

Our session will be focused on building brands within virtual worlds with a focus on architecture and interior design along with the use of Mesh that many of the top designers are now using as an additional option to create even more realistic and efficient designs (Loz will be leading the Mesh aspects).

For the guests I will be distributing a little gift bag at the end of the session  as a thank you for supporting RFL so please come along, make a donation and meet us!

A friend once told me it takes something in the heart that enables you to take a journey even a small one and find you have learnt something and it is captured as a memory for life.  I finally understood what they meant many years later when I walked along a street in London and sat looking out at window at the Thames.    For some reason a combination of the time, the place, the kindness from the person who held the door open whilst getting soaking wet in the rain for me and a final appreciation of my home came to my heart.

I sat for long hours sketching and creating a space that I wanted to be a true reflection of that moment when the heart contracts and to celebrate the people who have and continue to inspire me in my little journey through creating.

This one is for absence, for all you do so well and for everything that it made me strive to make this the best I could.

A while ago I met a chap who was sat on the dock at Vice Sim. We got talking and I realised he was somebody who’s images I had admired for a long time on Flickr.

Since that day when we took pictures of kites and laughed together I have followed his work and always been totally in awe.

As I started to create my new collection in Mesh I wanted to reset a lot of my design thoughts and inspiration but still draw on the things that made me love SL. Maclane quickly became my muse and inspiration and kindly lent me many words and ideas to start a new series where each object will be dedicated and inspired by some very special people.

Some of his words really picked me up into thinking wider than just interior and exterior – this design will have embedded nature and space that will fuse real and ureal together. So I don’t spoil any surprises this is part of “real” aspect of the design a library area that will have wooden nature a tree to support it whilst the paper from the tree will have created the many books in the library to share knowledge and fantasy.

The part that really inspired me from maclane was “a uniform concept could become a joyful space as an ideal home for a certain person. It is one of amusements in SL to be able to visualise it. Considering a house required in SL, I think it is needed to be a house that provides us with joy to be able to design the total space around it including the house itself. I think many peoples in SL are enjoying a space between real and unreal. I am also one of them.”

This is a sneak of a clay render of the untextured / finished article of the “real” part. I hope to release it within the week for maclane then it will be on general sale.

I got distracted over the past month with catching up with other projects and it was lovely to come back to work on the new range of Mesh products.   I completed a large luxury home but thought it would be apt to first release the Light Box the first Mesh Prefab I created.     I am keeping it with the wood texture pack shown in the images, but will also release to purchasers the original white wood pack as a free optional in the near future.

The thing I love about Mesh is how much we can do for less.   The Shell is 27 Land Impact and the two doors take it up to 29 in total.   No more alpha blind/shutter textures these are all solid wood on this model and can be either showing or not.  A handy switch by the door lets you set them.  The prim version of this would have been over 105 prims with the complex blinds and slats by the stairs.

In addition, the interior has glorious sunlight flooding through.  Again if you are on a viewer with shadows you may not need this so a quick flick of the shadow switch lets you have then on or off.

It’s a compact 18m by 18m foot print so works well on 2046 plots and upwards.  But you could get it on a smaller one at a squeeze.    With mesh scaling works a little different.   So this is set up for a six foot avatar.  If you like to be a little taller, you can simply scale it once rezzed (it’s linked for ease) and you can then expect a land impact of around 31-33 – still a huge improvement over prims.

It’s fully modify and copy and comes with our usual support and upgrade program.

I was really excited to be part of the Royal Living Magazine Hunt over Valentines and wanted to create something that couples could use together, but keeping to the ethos of a minimalist style that would work all year around.   This is a mesh piece of furniture (animation is an extra prim attached).

The Love Stool is animated you can be solo, or you can share with your partner as the stool contains an animation engine so you can play and have fun together.  Ok the design is clearly nothing like the Drive movie but Mr Gosling is always welcome to pop over for coffee and share my furniture!

I think the title sums this post up well!   I have been spending most of my design time outside Second Life in Maya over the past few months testing Mesh outputs getting ready for my sixth collection in Second Life.   It’s been a balancing act of design detail, the quirks of the limitations Second Life still has with Mesh and finally jumping up and down after uploading the final models that work (thank you to Maxwell Graf who kept me sane one evening showing me his amazing content after multiple fails on my own!).

Mesh seems to me to have re-engergized content creation at least for me within Second Life.  I haven’t for a long time felt anything akin to the excitement sitting at midnight at my desk as I baked in final textures reading for import.

This will be a new dawn of products for Scarlet Creative and I am really excited to make the transition.   <3
